Coworking exchange program lets members work around the globe

You’re an Orlando-based graphic designer who usually works out of one of the funky, fun coworking spaces at CoLab Orlando but your friends want to take a girls trip in California’s wine country. They work in the world of cubicles and paid vacation time. You are a self-employed, one-woman dynamo, meaning time off is money lost. But it doesn’t have to be that way. CoLab is a member of the International Coworking Visa program. (This is the very active growing Wiki page HERE)

The forward thinkers of CoLab Orlando have partnered with many coworking spaces across the United States and in dozens of countries around the globe. This offers CoLab community members the opportunity to set up temporary shop even if it’s just for a few hours, a whole day or longer (with some limitations, depending on the location). Time away from your coworking space in Orlando doesn’t have to mean losing a week’s worth of pay.

“It’s cool, and it’s a great benefit for coworking communities,” said Brian Wilson, community director of CoLab Orlando.

The Coworking Visa program has coworking spaces circling the globe, from south of the border in Brazil to destinations in Europe. Here’s how it works: Let’s say you take that trip to wine country. You really need to put some finishing touches on the final designs you’re working up for your most lucrative client. But your plane leaves in four hours, and you will need at least six hours to finish the work by its due date in three days. You can either call your CoLab Orlando community director and ask him to set you up with coworking space at your destination for the time you need to finish your work, or you can call ahead and set it up yourself. Simply let a community director at the space away from home know that you are a CoLab Orlando member, and you will be dropping in for about six hours when you arrive so that you can complete your project. It’s that simple.

It provides you with the benefits of your home-based community in an another coworking environment, and it doesn’t cost you a cent.

You get some much needed down time tasting the best vino the country has to offer. You get to keep your client happy. And most importantly, that vacation doesn’t have to cost you lost wages.

Many professionals use the coworking office space that offers small business owners all the convenience of an office in the Angebilt Building in downtown Orlando’s central business district with none of the hassles of building ownership or long-term leases.

Whether you vacation at Lake Eola, just a few blocks away, or hop a bigger pond for foreign climes, CoLab Orlando can hook you up with great coworking spaces for no extra charge.
